Built for Antarctica

Built for Antarctica

Perform any task where nature is at its toughest. The Bison Antarctic is prepared for extreme cold, wind, snow and ice, helping polar teams get the job done faster, safer and without compromise.

One Machine. Many Possibilities

One Machine. Many Possibilities

From traversing and runway preparation to base work, cargo handling and transport, the Bison Antarctic adapts to the mission with the right tools and configuration.

Ready for Transport and Logistics

Ready for Transport and Logistics

Move people, research teams, rescue equipment and heavy loads with confidence. The multipurpose transport cabin and high towing capacity make the vehicle a versatile support platform for Antarctic operations.

Configuration

When distance and load define the mission
Designed for long-distance operations between airbases, ice barriers, and remote field sites, the Bison Antarctic provides reliable logistics performance across snow, ice, and changing terrain. Built for demanding transport tasks, it is capable of moving loads of 50 tonnes (metric) with heavy tow hook (120 kN capacity, exact amount depending on friction coefficient), including fuel tanks, containers, equipment, and residential or research units. In addition to its hauling capability, the vehicle is designed with cabin comfort in mind, helping operators remain focused, protected, and comfortable during extended journeys in harsh Antarctic conditions. Its stable towing performance, high load capacity, dependable long-distance operation, and operator-focused cabin environment make it a versatile solution for Antarctic logistics, where reliability is essential and every kilometer matters.

Traversing & Logistics

Precision where safety matters most
Air access in Antarctica depends on precisely prepared and consistently maintained surfaces. Equipped with Power Tiller and X Blade, the Bison Antarctic supports the preparation and maintenance of Antarctic runways by shaping and conditioning hard snow and ice surfaces with uniform, durable results.

The blade, ice rippers, and UC tiller are designed for demanding runway work, including compact surfaces and hard ice conditions. With multiple tiller adjustment possibilities, the vehicle enables precise surface preparation for safe and reliable aircraft operations.

Runway Preparation

Moving people and missions safely
Safe and reliable transport is essential for Antarctic research, tourism, and rescue operations. With its multipurpose transport cabin, the Bison Antarctic adapts to different mission requirements, providing space for up to 15 passengers or a capacity of 11.3 m³ for equipment, supplies, and research setups.

The independent heating system helps maintain passenger comfort in extreme cold without restricting the standard use of the snow groomer. For rescue operations, a dedicated fixation point for a rescue sled supports the safe transportation of individuals in need of medical care.

Transport for Research

Supporting daily operations without compromise
Daily base operations in Antarctica require reliable equipment that can support continuous activity in changing weather and surface conditions. Compact, comfortable, and versatile, the Bison Antarctic is designed to handle essential tasks around the station, from pushing snow and clearing roads to maintaining routes and supporting team operations.

With its ability to move sledges, reposition tanks and equipment, and adapt flexibly with a range of accessories, the Bison Antarctic serves as a dependable workhorse for daily base logistics and operational support.

Work Around the Base

Features

Power you can rely on in extreme cold
Reliable engine performance is essential when operating in extreme cold and remote polar conditions. The Bison Antarctic is equipped with a Stage IIIA engine that does not require AdBlue/DEF and supports fuel types commonly used in polar logistics, including Jet A1, SAB, and AN8. For dependable preparation and operation in harsh weather, the purpose-built Polar Kit supports cold starts and daily use in low temperatures. Electric pre-heating and the optional diesel pre-heater help prepare the vehicle before operation, while anti-icing covers and protection systems are designed to reduce ice buildup on the cooling system, exhaust pipe, and air intake. This combination of fuel flexibility, cold-start support, and protective systems help ensure reliable operation during snowstorms, overwintering, and demanding field conditions.

Powertrain

Intuitive control and precise operation
The customizable Prinoth Control Unit provides operators with a clear, practical interface for fast access to key machine settings. Individual shortcuts and vehicle settings can be tailored to each operator and saved with the RFID key, helping teams start work quickly and consistently. The 12-inch tilting touchscreen keeps essential information clearly visible during day and night operations, while the Joystick-in-Joystick design enables precise and comfortable control of the blade and tiller. Its ergonomic layout supports smooth operation over longer working periods and helps operators work with accuracy in demanding Antarctic conditions.

Comfort, visibility and safety for long shifts
The modern cabin provides a quiet, comfortable, and highly visible working environment for long shifts in Antarctic conditions. The standard center seat offers an excellent front view and allows entry and exit on either side, while the large windscreen, rear visibility, and rearview camera support safe operation during cargo connection, base work, and low-light conditions. Comfortable seating, efficient heating, and optional additional passenger seats help support both long-distance operation and team transport. An inactivity alarm adds an extra layer of safety during extended working periods, while optional preparation for communication and navigation devices can support Antarctic field requirements. Designed for comfort, control, and visibility, the cabin helps operators stay focused and productive throughout demanding missions.
