Building a World-Class Surface: Prinoth at the 2025 PwC Tremblant World Cup

When the FIS Ski World Cup returned to Mont-Tremblant on December 6 and 7, the world’s best giant slalom female athletes arrived to a course built with precision, teamwork, and tireless preparation. Behind the scenes, multiple Prinoth snow groomers and a dedicated Tremblant crew worked day and night to carve a world-class racing surface worthy of the athletes who would ski it.

Engineering a World-Class Surface

Constructing a World Cup GS track in early December is no small task. Weather windows were tight, snowmaking was fast and heavy, and the margin for error was razor thin. Tremblant’s grooming team relied on three Prinoth Bison machines to push, shape, and maintain the snow surface that met FIS standards throughout the weekend.

The crew focused on consistency—hard, stable snow with clean transitions and tight fall-line management. The groomers’ blade finesse and tiller work played a crucial role in getting from early-season snowmaking whales to a race-ready course.

A True Partnership in Preparation

The course build was a coordinated effort between Tremblant, Alpine Canada, FIS, and Prinoth. From early planning to onsite machine and operator support, Prinoth worked alongside the mountain operations team to ensure everything came together.

“Building this course demanded flawless precision. Prinoth equipment delivered the strength and accuracy required to produce a dependable surface for the athletes”, notes Doug Campbell, Technical Advisor for Alpine Canada and for the PwC Tremblant World Cup.

The Athlete Experience

World Cup athletes noticed the strong preparation from the start. The course held up throughout both race days, even with heavy snowfall on the first day. This gave racers the solid platform they needed to push at full speed. The Canadian Team racing was thrilled with the course and event preparation culminating in Canada’s own Valerie Grenier placing 3rd on Saturday’s race at her home hill, in front of a largely home crowd.  “This race is extra special for the Canadian women as there is no better feeling than competing at home. In addition, the conditions were fantastic and we thank Prinoth and the LOC for their hard work in preparation and maintenance of  this World Cup track. The CANskiteam can’t wait to race here again!” said Jean-Francois Rapatel, High Performance Director of the Alpine Program at Alpine Canada.

Looking Ahead

The successful World Cup at Tremblant shows what happens when skilled operators, high-performance Prinoth groomers, and strong collaboration come together. Prinoth is proud to support events that elevate ski racing in Canada and showcase the craftsmanship of grooming professionals across the industry.
