At Prinoth, we know that the people behind the machines are just as important as the machines themselves.

Ask someone working at a ski resort how they got into the industry and you’ll probably get a story. They started as a liftie. Knew somebody in snowmaking. Got behind the sticks of a groomer and were hooked. Took a seasonal job and never left.

What you probably won’t hear is, “My guidance counselor told me this was a career.”

That’s why Prinoth is proud to be a presenting sponsor of The Pipeline Project, alongside fellow HTI company Leitner-Poma of America. Together, we’re helping introduce the next generation to the people, skills and careers that keep mountains running.

Bringing Mountain Careers to the Next Generation

This fall, The Pipeline Project’s Ski Career Exploration Event Series is bringing students to the mountain for a firsthand look at what it takes to operate a ski area.

These aren’t traditional career fairs. Students get hands-on, meet industry professionals, ask questions and experience what working in the ski industry can actually be like.

For example, this means climbing into a Prinoth Bison, sitting in the operator’s seat and exploring the technology behind the machine. Students can see the equipment up close and connect the groomer to the professionals who keep it running.

Suddenly, grooming isn’t something that just magically happens overnight. And then comes one of our favorite questions: Wait… people get paid to do this?

That’s the moment we’re looking for.

Because whether it’s grooming, snowmaking, lift maintenance, mountain operations, hospitality, marketing or one of the many other careers that make a ski area work, students can’t consider a career they don’t know exists.

Show Them What’s Possible

The ski industry is full of careers that are anything but ordinary. You can operate a 500-horsepower snow groomer, work with snow measurement technology, maintain equipment, manage snowmaking systems, keep lifts running or help create the guest experience.

At Prinoth, we see every day how much knowledge, technology and specialized skill goes into preparing a mountain for guests. We also know those skills need to be passed on to the next generation.

That starts with exposure.

The Pipeline Project’s events give ski areas an opportunity to bring their teams, equipment and stories directly to students. Groomers. Snowmakers. Mechanics. Lift technicians. Patrollers. Mountain operations. And for the Vermont event, hospitality and culinary teams, too.

Because you never know which conversation will make a student think:

Wait… maybe I could do this.
