Built for the World’s Best: The Bison X at Snowpark LAAX

Built for the World’s Best: The Bison X at Snowpark LAAX

06.05.2026

As the winter season comes to an end, it is time to look back at one of its defining highlights: the LAAX Open, held in mid January and recognized worldwide as one of the most influential freestyle events.

With a global audience watching, Snowpark LAAX once again set the benchmark for world class park construction. For Prinoth, it was the ideal stage to demonstrate how the Bison X performs where precision and reliability matter most.

A Snowpark Known Worldwide

Snowpark LAAX is known for setting standards – and during the LAAX Open, those standards are higher than ever. Every transition, every kicker, every feature must be built with absolute accuracy.

“The LAAX Open represents our crew, our work, our skills, and our passion. The attention to detail is what really matters,” explains the Head of Snowpark and Slope Grooming Lukas Reinhard.

During an event broadcast around the world, even the smallest inconsistency becomes visible. Snowpark construction at this level is not about speed alone, but about control, agility, and precision.

Designed for Precision Park Work

Throughout the preparation phase for the LAAX Open and the rest of the season, the Bison X proved its strengths day after day. Its intuitive controls and excellent operator feedback enabled precise shaping of jumps, transitions, and technical features. Clean take‑offs, consistent landings, and perfectly aligned kickers are the result of a machine that works in harmony with the operator.

The X-blade geometry  played a key role in this process, the rounded corners and side-cutters on the wings and the back-blading knife allow operators to create detailed features with maximum precision. Instead of relying on high RPM and speed, the Bison X delivers high torque at low RPM – a decisive advantage for detailed park work.

Agility That Makes the Difference

One of the defining characteristics of the Bison X is its exceptional maneuverability. With its compact design and shorter compact footprint, the machine excels in tight park environments where precision turns and quick adjustments are essential.

“Due to the shorter track stance, the machine is very easy to turn. That’s extremely helpful when shaping technical park features,”  Reinhard explains.

Combined with the balanced mid‑engine layout, this agility translates into stability and control throughout long park shifts.

Efficiency Over the Entire Season

Performance at the highest level must also be efficient. Over the course of the season, the Bison X consistently demonstrated low fuel consumption of around 16-17 liters per hour, even during intensive park construction and maintenance.

This efficiency allowed Snowpark LAAX to combine top‑level quality with responsible resource use. Running the engine at lower RPM while still delivering strong torque proved to be a clear advantage in daily operations and reinforced the Bison X’s role as a modern, future‑oriented snow groomer.

Digital Planning Meets Machine Precision

Modern snowpark construction relies heavily on digital tools. For the LAAX Open, the snowpark was planned in close collaboration with Snowpark Services, combining local expertise with digital planning and digital simulation, ensuring perfect geometries, high repeatability, and maximum safety for the athletes.

Throughout the season, 3D models integrated into snow measurement systems supported the construction of key areas such as the Pro Line, the minipipe, and the base for the medium line.

“With the 3D models, basically any operator can do the push work. It helps us build faster and more precisely,”  Reinhard adds.

For Prinoth, this combination of digital planning and machine precision is a key factor in delivering consistent, high‑quality snowparks on tight timelines.

A clear conclusion at the end of the season

Looking back on the LAAX Open and the season as a whole, one conclusion stands out. In one of the world’s most respected snowparks, the Bison X proved that it is built for the most demanding environments.

“Personally, when it comes to park building, I wouldn’t choose another machine anymore,” concludes Reinhard.

For Prinoth, the message is clear:
When it comes to building and maintaining world‑class snowparks, the Bison X truly earns its title as the King of Parks.
